And even Tooth Fairies can have a hard time feeling around in the dark, trying to locate the tooth under the pillow without waking the child. Most parents agree that $1 per tooth is a fair exchange rate that keeps parents ( ahem, I mean Tooth Fairies) and kids happy without breaking the bank.īaby teeth are tiny and easy to lose…sometimes even before they have the chance to make it under your child’s pillow. The amount of money the Tooth Fairy pays per tooth is entirely up to you as the Tooth Fairy. Tooth Fairies should keep in mind that children will lose 20 baby teeth in their lifetime (so you may not want to set the bar high by leaving a $20 bill the first time your child loses a tooth). Are you new to the Tooth Fairy Business? Losing a tooth is one of those sort-of-scary-but-exciting times your child will never forget! The basic Tooth Fairy tradition involves a child leaving a tooth under their pillow at bedtime so the Tooth Fairy can visit during the night and take the tooth, leaving money under the pillow in exchange.

![]() The name ‘Tank’ circuit comes from the ability of the LC circuit to store energy for oscillations. Where f is the frequency in hertz, x is the coil length, C is the capacitance of trimmer in Farads, and L is the inductance of coil in Hendry.Įvery FM transmitter needs an oscillator to generate the radio Frequency (RF) carrier waves. The resonant frequency can be calculated using the formula In the tank circuit, the capacitor stores electrical energy between its plates while the inductor stores magnetic energy induced by the windings of the coil. The variable capacitor and the inductor coil form the Tank circuit (LC circuit) that resonates in the 88-108 MHz. The resulting value is in Micro Henry.Ī small button type variable capacitor with a value of 22 pF can be used to adjust the resonant frequency of the tank circuit. Where r is the inner radius of the coil, x is the length of the coil and n, number of turns. The inductance of the coil can be calculated using the formula Remove the enamel from the tips and solder close to the transistor. Remove the coil from the screw driver and use the 5 turn Air core coil. ![]() Coil can be wound around a screw driver (with same diameter) to get a 5 turn coil of 0.2 inch long. For this circuit, the coil radius was selected as 0.26 inches (outer diameter) and 0.13 inner diameter. Then only the inductor resonates in the 88-108 band FM frequency. The length, inner diameter, number of turns etc are the important parameters to be considered while making the inductor. The inductor used in the circuit is a hand made coil using 22 SWG (Standard Wire Gauge) enameled copper wire. (Flat side on which the number is printed). Pin assignment of 2N 2222 A is 1 Emitter – 2 Base – 3 Collector (EBC) from the front side So maximum power output should be around 125 milli watt. Over powering of 2N 2222A can generate heat and destroy the device. It has maximum power rating of 0.5 Watts. The given values are necessary for the 2N 2222A transistor.ĢN 2222A is the common NPN transmitter used in general purpose amplifications. The voltage divider R1 and R2 limits the base current of T1 and R3 forms the emitter current limiter. Variable resistor VR1 restricts the current through the MIC. A capacitor between 4 and 10 PF is necessary. Presence of the capacitor C3 prevents this decay. When the tank circuit vibrates for long time, the frequency decays due to heating. As long as the current exists across the inductor coil L1 and the Trimmer capacitor, the tank circuit (Coil-Trimmer) will vibrate at the resonant frequency. Capacitor C3 across the transistor T1 keeps the tank circuit vibrating. Capacitor C2 (0.01) act as the decoupling capacitor. The 4.7 uF capacitor isolates the microphone from the base voltage of the transistor and only allows alternating current (AC) signals to pass.Ī large value capacitor induces bass (low frequencies) while a low value one gives treble (high frequencies). C1 modulates the current to the base of transistor. Sleeving the MIC inside plastic tubing can increase its sensitivity enormously.Ĭ1 is the first decoupling capacitor impedes the different frequencies of speech signals. The condenser MIC should be directly soldered on the PCB to get maximum sensitivity. Variable resistor VR1 adjusts the current through the MIC and thus determines the sensitivity of MIC. The diaphragm inside the MIC vibrates according to the air pressure changes and generates AC signals. The condenser MIC is used to pick up the sound signals. The design details of each component are as follows. The circuit diagram shown below is that of a Single transistor FM transmitter with a range of 30-50 feets and 100 – 125 milli watt output. The important parameters for the optimum performance of an FM transmitter are :ġ. Length of the Antenna used to transmit the frequency. Even a slight change in the coil specification or slight change in the variable capacitor value can shift the harmonic frequency instead of the 88-108 MHz FM band.Ģ. Tuning of the FM transmitter to the desired frequency. The performance of an FM transmitter depends on two important aspects.ġ. Get a Long range ( 100 Meters) FM Transmitter circuit in this link The Note given here explains how a simple FM transmitter is designed and assembled. Designing and assembling an FM transmitter is a difficult task. Usually 87.5 – 108.0 MHz is used to transmit and receive the FM signals. Throughout the world, the broadcast band falls within the VHF part of the radio spectrum. Asymmetrics function well at relatively high angles, but could they be pushed further? So, naturally, creative minds wondered if it was possible to make an asymmetric spinnaker that could sail upwind, or at least nearly upwind. Whitbread rules didn’t allow masthead genoas but permitted masthead asymmetric spinnakers. Thus, Code Zero was the perfect name for a sail that could sail at closer angles than any spinnaker in the inventory. Codes 2, 3, and 4 were used at progressively broader angles. Although every team had their own version by the end of the race, Paul Cayard and the winning EF Language team first realized the sail’s potential and got the lion’s share of the credit for its development.įor most syndicates the spinnaker designed for the tightest wind angles was designated as the Code 1 Reacher. What makes the Code Zero more useful are advances in furling technology, which can make them easier to handle, and the addition of bow sprits of various lengths that help create more space for the sail.ĭuring the 1998-99 Whitbread Race, the term Code Zero was coined to define what was basically an upwind asymmetric spinnaker, its shape and geometry born from the limitations imposed by the class rule. Genoa-powered boats don’t get as much benefit since they already have a good sized reaching option. These usually are fractionally rigged but have spinnaker halyards that are well above the forestay or even masthead. Ease that non-overlapping jib out on a reach, and there is just not that much sail there to power the boat up. These sails are particularly useful on modern racing and cruising boats which now feature non-overlapping jibs as primary headsails. Often referred to as the “Code Zero,” it is essentially an asymmetric spinnaker designed to act like a large, loose-luffed reaching genoa.Ĭode Zero Spinnaker Photo Provided By Quantum Sails Fortunately the last 25 years have witnessed the development of specialty light to moderate reaching sails that are just the ticket. We search for anything that can get us going. With the 3, 5, and 7m, you'll cover the whole wind range, from 10 to 30 knots. An Asymmetric Spinnaker Designed to Act like a Large, Loose-Luffed Reaching GenoaĪs we settle into the dog days of summer here on the Chesapeake Bay, wind is an ingredient often in short supply. The Code Zero is a highly efficient kite with a wide wind range and impressive power delivery for a one-strut kite - which means you can ride lighter wind conditions with a smaller kite. It won't luff, over-fly or front stall, and its one-handed steering means you can always foil in your preferred stance. The kite is stable and evenly tensioned, with a balanced geometry. Super fun and easy to fly, with intuitive relaunch and reverse launch, the Code Zero is also great for learning to kite or foil in light winds. DuraLite wingtip chafe protectors provide abrasion resistance only where you need it, and small battens on the 9m and 11m stabilize the canopy. Using lighter N-Dure dacron on the leading edge and strut for stiffness and durability, a double-canopy layer to reinforce the trailing edge and lighter-weight bladder material in every size. Refined for weight savings, we’ve stripped back the kite’s construction to the essential. One of the lightest single-strut kites available, the Code Zero has a playful and agile feel with dynamic steering. It flies and turns quickly - with excellent drift and manoeuvrability which makes it ideal for foiling and small surf. and reactive single-strut performer with effortless one-handed control and efficient light wind power delivery. Like its namesake, we've engineered this kite for performance in very light air. Borrowed from our North sailing heritage, Code Zero is the name of a sail born to go fast in light, shifty conditions. I ran all of this year's range extender tests with a Netgear R6700AX router running the network. It offered reliable performance but limited range when I tested it - and that's exactly what I wanted for these range extender tests. I went with the Netgear R6700AX, a perfectly decent model I reviewed last year. However, it's in line with the average internet speed in the US, which makes it a great place to test how home networking products will work for the average consumer.įor my purposes, I started by setting up a router in the Smart Home's laundry room, which is where the modem is set up. That's a far cry from the gigabit connections more and more of us have access to (not to mention the new, blazing-fast multi-gig internet plans emerging in some parts of the country). The CNET Smart Home has a fiber internet connection with matching upload and download speeds of up to 150Mbps. Ry Crist/CNET Testing Wi-Fi extenders in the CNET Smart Home On its own, a single, entry-level Wi-Fi 6 router in the laundry room was able to deliver decent speeds on the main floor of the home (the first four rooms in this chart), but speeds plummeted in the basement (the last four rooms), especially the upload speeds. This is the control graph, showing you the average speeds in each room I tested with no range extenders in play at all. That creates a single, seamless connection that will give you the best Wi-Fi range available with your current setup - all without you needing to think about it too much. Plus, these Wi-Fi boosters are a cinch to set up, they'll work no matter what brand of router you're using, and you can typically use the same SSID and password as your original router. Wi-Fi extenders are generally less expensive than upgrading to a full-fledged mesh router with its own mesh Wi-Fi systems and range-extending satellite devices. ![]() Plug in one near the edge of your router's wireless range and pair it with the network, and it'll start rebroadcasting the signal farther out for significantly faster internet speeds throughout your home. Wi-Fi extenders use built-in Wi-Fi radios and antennas to pair wirelessly with your router. There are a number of things you should try to eke out a better signal from your router, but if tweaks like those aren't doing enough, you could also try using a Wi-Fi extender.Īlso called a Wi-Fi signal booster, a range or Wi-Fi extender is a compact, plug-in device that is simple and hassle-free to implement. In many homes, a single router is too weak to generate a stable signal reaching every room, resulting in dead zones and glitchy connections. Your internet is only as fast as the equipment it's running through. ![]() Moving down, the buttonless touchpad is appropriately sized for the 15.6-inch screen. A thicker border on the WASD and arrow-key clusters makes them appear brighter, highlighting this notebook's gaming focus. For gaming, the keys have a long enough throw to let your fingers know that they are fully pressed. The typing experience is satisfactory if not particularly engaging. Conveniently, the app allows you to save profiles. Though it lacks the per-key backlighting customization of the more costly Omen 15 and Alienware m15, its four zones and endless colors should satisfy most buyers' personalization desires. A dedicated button on the number pad launches the app. Acer's PredatorSense app allows true RGB control (that is, the ability to specify the red, green, and blue values) for each zone. The four-zone RGB keyboard is just as colorful. Its ample brightness, wide viewing angles, anti-glare surface, and rated 100% coverage of the sRGB color space create vibrant visuals. But I can only speak to the 240Hz screen's quality, and complaints are in short supply. (Photo: Molly Flores)Įsports games, which tend to be less graphically resource-intensive, are some of the only titles in which the Helios 300 can reach triple-digit frame rates, so the base model's 144Hz refresh rate is otherwise more the adequate. The 240Hz high-refresh-rate screen of my review model has a silky-smooth picture for all types of gaming, especially esports. I also like that the lid can be opened one-handed, and that the touchpad borders and front edge of the chassis are diamond-cut for a little glitz. On the upside, it has good strength, exhibiting minimal lid and chassis flex. As I found while reviewing the 2020 edition, its chassis corners are sharp, and there are perceptible gaps where the metal sloping around its sides meets the plastic base. Positive and negative aspects of the Predator Helios 300's construction transcend price. Today's review unit (model PH315-53-78XB) hikes the GPU to an 8GB GeForce RTX 3070 and the screen's refresh rate to 240Hz, but oddly halves the storage to 512GB. For that money, you get a six-core Intel Core i7-10750H processor, the 6GB GeForce RTX 3060, a 144Hz 1080p display, 16GB of memory, a 1TB solid-state drive, and Windows 10 Home. Similarly priced rivals tend to use more metal or special finishes the Alienware and HP are good examples, as are the all-metal Gigabyte Aero 15 and Razer Blade 15 Base Model.īy contrast, Acer's $1,349 starter model (designated PH315-53-70QE) compares favorably with the mostly plastic machines competing at that tier, such as MSI's GF65 Thin and Dell's G5 15 SE. ![]() When it comes to build quality, the Predator Helios 300's partial aluminum design-the lid, palm rest, and keyboard deck-struggles to impress at our test unit's $1,699. (The abovementioned Alienware is 5.3 pounds.) The Acer isn't exactly light at 4.85 pounds, but it's an acceptable weight for this screen size. The HP Omen 15 is trimmer (0.89 by 14.1 by 9.4 inches), as is the MSI Stealth 15M (0.6 by 14.1 by 9.7 inches). (Photo: Molly Flores)Īt 0.9 by 14.3 by 10 inches (HWD), the Predator Helios 300 is average-sized for a 15.6-inch gaming notebook. (See the 2019 Helios 300 model for context.) The Predator lettering now only appears under the screen, for a more mature vibe and a step toward broader appeal. It wasn't always one that the Helios 300 could make, either Acer toned down the Predator branding with this redesign, which debuted in 2020. The design is more mainstream than radical, a claim that Alienware's m15 R4 can't make. There's no mistaking the Predator Helios 300 for anything but a gaming laptop, with its all-black chassis, angled lid corners, aggro rear cooling vents, and turquoise-backlit Predator logo on the lid. (Besides, the base model has twice the storage.) If you'd prefer something more portable with better battery life, Acer's 14-inch Predator Triton 300 SE is a top choice, but this year's Predator Helios 300 once again nabs an Editors' Choice award among midrange 15.6-inch gaming rigs. Everything we liked about the previous Predator Helios 300 applies to this one, as does our recommendation to stick with the base model: Its features and price make more sense at $1,349, and its RTX 3060 will perform almost as well as our test unit's RTX 3070. The only difference is an upgrade to Nvidia's GeForce RTX 30 Series "Ampere" graphics, but that's an important change since it markedly improves gaming performance. Acer's 15.6-inch Predator Helios 300-at $1,699 as seen here, has gone up $200 from last year's model. Buying a gaming laptop in 2021 is more expensive than it was in 2020. ![]() ![]() That’s why he has dominated music for the past 20 years and every Pop/R&B male artist that came after him (Chris Brown,Justin Bieber,Jason Derulo) looks up to him as the modern leading song and dance man Also, How is he done when he’s starring in a HUGE highly anticipated movie, releasing his 8th studio album, and still getting hits, massive radio airplay and selling out arenas and stadiums.
